JS Atlantic Tortoise

The JS Atlantic was inspired by the first woman to complete a solo flight across the Atlantic Ocean, Amelia Earhart. Earhart is well known for her countless aviation achievements and records, but more importantly, she stood as a symbol of individuality and ‘living life on your own terms’ in a time when there was immense public pressure and scrutiny to conform to conservative social norms, particularly for women. In addition to aviation, Earhart was an author, columnist, lecturer, college career counselor, WWI nurse, fashion designer, businesswoman, and dedicated activist for equality.

Composed of a hand-polished amber Italian acetate and yellow gold accents, the JS Atlantic Tortoise brings a modern element to an American classic. Polarized Green lenses provide a subtle contrast to the gold and tortoise frame, creating a sleek combination.

The frames are crafted from nickel-free stainless steel and high-grade Italian cellulose acetate. Each frame is individually hand-polished and assembled. Soft silicone nose pads are used for extra comfort and are attached to malleable nose pad wires to easily adjust fit. German-engineered 3-barrel hinges and screws are used to retain smooth movement for years to come, and a wire core extends from hinges to support temple shape.
