BigBasket-acquired Morning Cart’s cofounder Anuj Bishnoi’s new B2B SaaS venture, RePut.ai, has raised $1 Mn in Pre-seed funding led by GrowthCap Ventures, with participation from angel investors like BigBasket’s Vipul Parekh and TableSprint’s Abhijeet Kumar. Volt VC, a micro venture capital firm, has launched its first fund, Volt VC Fund-1, with the goal of addressing the pre-seed funding gap and offering crucial resources to startups across India. Volt VC Fund-1, a SEBI-registered Category II Alternative Investment Fund (AIF), aims to raise a corpus of Rs 45 crore. The fund will focus on investing in innovative, consumer-centric startups at the pre-seed stage, with a mission to support the next generation of entrepreneurs and creators building strong, consumer-focused businesses in sectors such as D2C, B2C, and B2B2C. Volt VC plans to invest between Rs 50 lakhs to Rs 2 crore in approximately 20-25 pre-seed startups. Founded by Param Patel, Volt VC will offer strategic guidance, market research support, product development, branding, fundraising strategies, and access to an extensive network of experts across various domains. The firm’s mission is to foster entrepreneurship and fuel the growth of innovative startups in Gujarat and across India. Based in Ahmedabad, the company aims to close its first fund within the next 3-4 months. In a tech developing economy like India...innovation always will precede regulation. Sustaining this lag period is very critical especially for fintech founders. I always admire their courage to operate in such an unpredictable environment where regulation can be a headwind anytime. And more so, if you are a consumer fintech co. with multiple dependencies. New Delhi-based venture capital firm growX ventures, focused on B2B and DeepTech, has launched Fund II with a target of ₹400 crore ($47.1 million). The firm plans to support both early-stage and early-growth-stage companies such as semiconductors, defence-tech, spacetech, alternate materials and advanced manufacturing, fintech, healthtech, and supply chain/logistics over the next two to three years. I have been a firm believer and quite vocal about the "only" exit strategy apart from M&A for Indian born and bred #saas companies at sub $20m scale. The best outcome is an exit is an IPO in India. Like the services businesses of 90's I see a lot more companies going public in the next 18-24 months. Not all #saas can grow to 100m and subsequently 10x again to 1b ARR scale. Only a few verticals globally can achieve this scale. VC's were blinded by the boom and gave insane valuations which unfortunately is making going public a nightmare in India. If old school venture funding prevailed and we never had 2021, a lot more could have already been public. So why India and why public? Isn't it a nightmare to run a publicly listed company? Not really. A lot of myth busting needs to be done. Also a lot of regulatory framework is just now coming into place. Also it is indeed true the company should be somewhere close to being EBITA +ve. Having spoken to bankers, auditors and lawyers about this topic in depth, below are the reasons you should IPO in #india - Atleast 10x cheaper than going public in the US - Can go public from $10m ARR scale onwards - Need some level of visibility to profitability and have all the regulatory filings in place which has now become easy for foreign domiciled companies - Robust regulatory framework. A SPAC would never fly in India - Retail wealth booming combined with penetration of brokerage apps - Easy access to capital, fundraising, debt and many other instruments that private companies can never have - Growth projects need not be 100-200% YoY but somewhere between 40-50% at low scale and 20-30% at higher revenue scale Most importantly, you are giving an exit to early believers, employees and growing with the economy which is a testament of all the hard work teams put in. https://lnkd.in/dqbDZ2sr
