Help Abandoned Animals with THIS Innovative Animal Rescue

I’m supporting Sanctuary Hostel’s innovative Animal Rescue vision because hungry, sad yet hopeful stray animals that depend on humans to live or just even survive absolutely BREAK MY HEART. The only way to solve the ROOT of the problem is to go to the source - PREVENT animal abandonment and reduce the number of dogs, cats, and other strays silently suffering on the streets by educating the community on the ground in countries with high rates of stray animals.

To get the donation matching, make sure to set up a RECURRING donation! You will be matching up to $50/month for Nov and Dec, and can cancel your recurring donation at any time.

Sanctuary Hostel is an INNOVATIVE Animal Rescue that is literally built into local communities through the hostel and community garden presence. The first pilot project is in Rosarito, Baja California - just across the border from San Diego where I live, where tens of thousands of rescued strays cross the border each year to be adopted into homes. (We adopt so many, but so many more are dying on the streets before they can find a home).

The hostel will bring visitors from around the world and financially supports the animal rescue, so the nonprofit is self-sustaining in the long term. The community garden provides food for the hostel, rescue, and surrounding communities. Most importantly, our education program will train children and adults alike in animal communication, helping prevent animal abandonment, and how to interact with strays.

This initial fundraising phase will help build the hostel and animal rescue on a plot of land owned by the Sanctuary Hostel founder. We have approved building plans from an eco-architect and are working through the permitting process. In the meantime, we are supporting our rescue partner Foster Fail to ensure we are making a difference even now, before our hostel, garden, and education programs can be launched.

Hundreds of thousands of dogs are abandoned to the streets in Mexico each year. If any of this resonates with you, please donate something - even $5 shows your support and makes a difference. On November 1st Every.org will be matching up to $50 recurring donations for the month of November and December. You can DOUBLE your impact if you sign up in this way, and you can cancel at ANY TIME

A little bit about our Founder, Ace:
Ace is a disabled US veteran who moved to Mexico in 2019. He was shocked by the number of stray animals on the streets and how harshly they were treated by people, even children. He felt building an animal shelter alone would not be enough to help solve the problem, so the idea of a hostel, community garden, and education center combined with the animal rescue was born. He has spent the last few years building relationships in Mexico and using his personal funds and expertise to build up Sanctuary Hostel as a 501c3 nonprofit.

We celebrate Foster Fail, our rescue partner!
Foster Fail is a small animal rescue born during the 2020 pandemic and is headed up by our amazing friend Kathie. Kathie takes the strays that no one else has room for, nurses them to health, and finds great families before bringing them over the border for adoption. What is CRITICAL to a good adoption is a good personality match between the family and the animal

Here are some great rescue stories to show how easy it is to make a difference!
Snickers was a puppy thrown out with the trash. When Kathie found him he was so tiny and starving. Once he put on weight he grew up and was ready for his new home!
Mateo was found by the side of the road. He has a cataract in one eye and the other eye was so covered in gunk he couldn’t see. With a bath and a haircut, we found him a new home with someone who empathizes with the vision impairment
Scout was found on the street covered in ticks! After some simple medication, Scout is now much happier tick-free and was lucky to not get Lyme disease.
Layla and Storm were found as puppies on the streets at about 5 weeks old. Both had common diseases but were cured quickly by the vet and grew up strong and healthy, ready for a new home.
