The committee considered the nomination of William Barr, President George H.W. Bush’s nomination to be U.S. Attorney General. Mr. Barr has been acting attorney general for the past several months, following the resignation of Dick Thornburgh, who resigned from the post as the nation’s chief law enforcement official in order to run for the Senate. Mr. Barr worked with President Reagan’s transition team and then was an adviser in the Reagan White House in the Office of Policy Development. close
