As fiber-broadband infastructure is spotlighted by state leadership, representatives from Spartanburg-based AFL pledge to bolster the fiber broadband market and manufacturing sector in active roles through industry organizations.

Seán Adam, vice president of market strategy and innovation, will advocate for fiber broadband deployment on Fiber Broadband Association’s public policy committee; Kevin Clayton, senior product manager, will chair the organization’s marketing committee; and Josh Simer, market manager, will join the FBA technology committee, according to a news release.

“I am very grateful to our volunteer leaders from AFL for their ongoing commitment to our industry and our association,” Lisa R. Youngers, president and CEO of the association, said in the release. “We rely on their expertise to support everything from our technical studies to congressional advocacy to professional development.”

Mary Ellen Grom, executive director of marketing and communications, will serve as a steering committee member of the FBA Women in Fiber Group. She was also recently elected to the board of directors of the Women in Manufacturing Education Foundation where she serves as the secretary and treasurer, according to a news release. The 4,000-member group supports educational opportunities for women in manufacturing.

“Mary Ellen brings expertise in marketing and communications which will be invaluable to WiMEF as we continue to promote the many educational opportunities our organization offers to help women thrive in the manufacturing workforce,” Allison Grealis, president of the Women in Manufacturing Association, said in the release.
