We are MDCS, Microsoft Development Center Serbia. Our people have often been challenged to go the extra mile and seek creative solutions to advance. As Belgrade is the meeting point of East and West, our team members come from all sides of the world, bringing their unique cultures, and demonstrating full diversity and inclusion as one of the core Microsoft values. Creativity. Open mind. Action. Trying hard – trying harder. Challenging boundaries and abilities. While we take pride in the quality and values of our people, we are also very proud of the ecosystem we generate around us, making Belgrade one of the vital engineering hubs in this part of the world.

Dražen Šumić is the new director of the Microsoft Development Center in Serbia.

As the director of the Microsoft Development Center in Serbia (MDCS), Dražen Šumić, with the status of Microsoft Partner, will be responsible for the further strategic development of the center in Belgrade, which has long established its reputation within the global company and is considered one of the most important development centers in Europe. MDCS creates the most innovative services of the global company, used by millions of people worldwide, such as cloud services and the development of generative artificial intelligence.

"Thanks to the work we have all put in together, MDCS is significantly different from what it was in 2011 when I joined the team. We now have over 600 engineers, and our center is responsible for some of the key Microsoft services. I would like to thank my predecessor, Dragan Tomić, for his successful leadership so far, from whom I have personally learned a lot. MDCS is a development center with a complete software product development process, as well as working with users to adopt them. Our core strength has not changed, and I believe it never will: unity and the desire to be the best," emphasized Dražen.

The qualifications for this year's competition started today and will last until June 8th, while the final is planned for the fall, live in Belgrade.

Teams for participation must consist of a maximum of three students or three high school students. All members of a student team must attend the same university but can study at different faculties. High school teams can be formed from students from different schools. Bubble Cup is a team programming competition focused on solving algorithmic tasks, organized since 2008. Its aim is to increase the popularity of programming among students, promote teamwork, and gather talented young programmers from across the country. The top 8 high school teams and the top 8 university teams will advance to the final competition. Many previous Bubble Cup finalists have continued their careers in the Microsoft Development Center.
