Hawthorne, Massachusetts has always been a nice place, a safe place - a boring place. At least to waitress Tara Walker, who dreams of more excitement than slinging plates of seafood for Cape Cod tourists. But as Tara learns when she is attacked and forced to fight for her life, fate sometimes has a funny way of giving you exactly what you wish for. Faced with strange new powers and embroiled in a murder investigation, Tara must now race to uncover the secrets of the ancient Fury that has woken inside of her - and of the evil that stalks her.

As if Tara’s life hasn’t gotten complicated enough, she is forced to ally herself with Jackson Byrne, witness to her assault and uncle to a pint-sized oracle whose fate is intertwined with hers. Skeptical, stubborn, and oh-so-sexy, Jackson wrestles with demons of his own. He is determined to ignore the attraction rising between them even faster than the body count, but like it or not, he and Tara need each other if they are to unravel the mysteries that surround them.

Nicola R. White is no stranger to the fantastic. Although there are no Furies in her family tree (that she knows of), she comes from a small city on the east coast of Canada where ghost stories and superstitions abound. She has worked on movie sets, as a bartender, in a lighthouse, and as a lawyer, and though she’s never been an exotic dancer like her character, Alex Hughes, she does know how to pole dance.

She has always been fascinated by the strange and morbid, and often stays up too late reading books that give her nightmares. She believes truth is stranger than fiction, and just a few of her heroes are Buffy, Dana Scully, and Xena.

“There are more things in heaven and Earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy.”

I don’t know how I stumbled across Fury’s Kiss but I am really ecstatic that I did. 4.5 Kick Ass Heroine Stars.

This is the debut novel by Ms. White and it has everything that it should have. Humour, suspense, love, a grouchy Hero and a strong headed heroine. The secondary characters only added to the story and the detail that was created.

I actually read this book in one sitting and informed my hubby to leave me alone. Bless him, he is very patient when it comes to my reading addiction.

Jackson Bryne is a broody, gorgeous man with some demons. Who doesn’t believe in supernatural, really it had it coming. He is judgmental but the situations that Tara puts herself in, he in the end does save the day. He tries to deny the chemistry between them but they fail.

Tara Walker is a waitress but one day she would like to fulfil her dream of opening up a restaurant. After a date gone horrible bad and meeting the guy of her dreams that ignores her. You’d think her day couldn’t get any worse, right? Wrong. She fights for her life and does the unthinkable. She gains powers and ally she never thought could happen. Due to some witnesses things get complicated.

Tara is a strong heroine and takes everything in stride.

I’d killed a man and cursed another, been beaten up and shot at, and been mistaken for a prostitute in the past twenty-four hours.

With the help of her awesome friends Rachel and Alex they get to the bottom of it. But evil is still hot on their heels.

So with finding out that Tara is a Fury, there also being the New England Serial Killer in the area. The crazy neighbour Mrs. Hadley who is an absolute riot. Ruby the mini oracle who needs saving along with her mother Nora. Being on the run from the FBI and fighting pure evil what more could you want to stop leading a boring life.

What I liked is that the story is original and it isn’t based on the point of view from the Greek God and their Posse but that the Furies get to shine, avenge and kick some serious butt. The world building, there was never a dull moment when it came to this book.

That there was a balance between Tara coming to terms with Alecto the fury in her and herself without giving up her identity. Alecto really wants her sisters though Tisphone and Megaera and guess who they are. Yep, Alex and Rachel. Alex is up next and I can’t wait. I do have two questions though, is Tara now immortal? If yes what about Jackson?

I really wanted to like this book because the synopsis sounded amazing! However,I just couldn't connect with the main character and I mostly found her actions to be a bit stupid.I liked Alecta a lot more than Tara. I also liked Tara's friends, they are really great characters,Nicola R. White deserves a big applause because she definitely did her research and the story she wrote is very, very interesting, nothing like I've read before!
Even though I'm not the biggest fan of this book I definitely enjoyed reading it!

Wowzers! Nicola R White has completely impressed me for the second time! This book really couldn't be more different than Man's Ruin yet it has an author in common and she is an incredible talent!

I absolutely loved this brilliantly, well written, paranormal romance that started out crazy wild and maintained that level of surprise and intensity throughout. The characters are outstanding and all so well developed and each is interesting in their own way.

I don't want to give any more away than you can glean from the synopsis because this book really deserves to deliver every punch that it packs. With shocks, surprises and Tara's fabulous dry sarcasm in the face of everything she has to face, this audiobook really is the gift that keeps giving!

Elizabeth Tebb is an outstanding voice actor. While maintaining individual and recognisable voices that suited each character, Elizabeth draws us into the excitement of the story that Nicola has written. She brings attitude, intensity and completely drew me into this brilliant story.

I truly did not want this audiobook to end and I hope that Audible don't hang around and that the rest of this series is available a.s.a.p! I will be the first in the queue when they become available.

I received this audiobook as part of my participation in a blog tour with Audiobookworm Promotions. The tour is being sponsored by Nicola R. White. The gifting of this audiobook did not affect my opinion of it.

Fear the fury in the alley . . .

Meeting the furies was so much fun. I loved meeting Tara. Jackson was a bit different. I was not sure of him at first. I found some great characters and an intense relationship that was worth getting to see more of. I would love to have more of the furies. I found this introduction to be exciting and alluring.

Narration of the audio was acceptable but the audio quality was lacking. There was a background static that distracted me from the audio for the first few hours of the book. Then it sort of fade or I just blocked it out. Afterwards, I had to go back and listen to the book a second time because I enjoyed the story but was a bit put off by the sound quality of the audio.

When Tara is on her way home from a bar, she is nearly raped. in this moment, something awakens in her and she kill her would-be attacker. From this moment on, her life changes significantly - but there is always her "family", she can count on and of course there is Jackson ....

When I read the plot of this book, I knew I would want to read it - although now I read it, I have to confess, it is a bit misleading - but who would not want to read about some greek mythology

the storyline was interesting, although I got the feeling that it is a bit of a build-up for the next books in this series. Nevertheless, I quite enjoyed it although sometimes it dragged a bit from time to time.

but which made it fun to read were the characters: we have of course Tara and her fury Alecta, than there is Jackson, who was a bit neglected in my opinion - at least I would have loved to see more of him - and than we got the girls, Alex and Rachel, who are real family!
of course, Ruby was great and I can't wait to see what happens with Ethan Graves.

all in all, this was an enjoyable read and I really look forward to the next book

Furies? I had of course heard of them-vaguely. So when I saw this on Net Galley for review, I decided to take a chance. There were minor things that bothered me here and there, but for the most part I had a good time reading this.

Tara is a waitress in a restaurant. She’s saving money to buy her own restaurant, but in the meantime, she lives with two roommates-also her two best friends. One night she goes by herself to a local bar in town that is deserted except for the bartender, Nora. This is where Jackson comes in. He’s ex-navy Seal, and in town to watch over his sister-in-law, Nora, and her little girl, Ruby. Tara takes one look at him and is in lust. Ignored by him and a little drunk, she is trying to leave when she meets a man in the parking lot. A man that won’t take no for an answer. Then Tara changes into something before the man’s eyes, and before long he is not a part of the living anymore. Appalled, Tara has no idea what’s happening to her, but she does know that no one will believe that he had attacked her, and the weird state of the body will be a complete mystery to the forensic people. So she leaves the scene. This is just the beginning of this new series by this author.

The premise of a young woman not knowing she has a fury in her head was a good one for me. Furies are part of Greek mythology and have been around for thousands of years, including the one occupying part of Tara’s mind right now. Talk about split personality. Furies live to bring vengence to the world. If a fury doesn’t kill by taking energy from a person that is guilty of truly heinous crimes, then she starts to lose her own energy. So it’s a must. Needless to say, killing people, guilty or not, isn’t something that Tara had ever done before.

I completely enjoyed all the good characters in this read. Tara is feisty as they come, beautiful, and completely flumoxed by the turn her life has taken. But she rises to the occasion beautifully. Her roommates were also very well drawn by the author. Alex is an exotic dancer, one that had a horrible childhood. The only love of her life is dance, but with no money to further her study, she takes what work she can get. Rachel is the quiet, smart, libraian type. When they find out what going on with Tara, they jump in to help her. Nora, the bartended also gets involved. She knows what Tara is, because she has her own story of the paranormal type that I won’t go into here. And then there is Jackson. Jackson spends his time trying to fight the lust he also feels for Tara. He sees her as an enemy-someone that will hurt his family. Throw in an FBI agent, a serial killer, and a few other unsavory types, and this book gets even better. Oh, and the witch that lives next door was quite the character!

I alluded to a few things that bothered me earlier. They were tiny plot holes that when you take the book as a whole, didn’t bother me. I literally decided that they didn’t matter, and that’s because this book is such a fun read. Yes, there’s danger and death, snipers and killers, etc., but it just was a read that didn’t take itself that seriously. And no, it wasn’t a comedy either. Dramedy maybe? It’s a romance, but it’s also about the family that Tara has made with her best friends. The banter between the three was hilarious at times. And I can’t forget to mention Alecto-Tara’s new resident in her head. She was the reason for some laughter several times, as well.

I would highly recommend this as a good read for paranormal romance readers, and even UF fans that don’t mind a romance, as well. It’s a series, so I expect to see the roommates involved in all kinds of havoc before it’s all said and done. Good read!

I kindly received a copy of this book from Strange Roads Press via Netgalley in return for an honest review.

I am so confused about my feelings on this book right now!

Rating:- 2.5 stars.

Let’s start off with the plot.

”There are darker creatures than even you, infernal Goddess, daughter of blood and night,”

Tara is the type of girl who is more passive than aggressive,

She’s flirty and likes to have a good time.

She enjoys the typical things of a 22 year old.

Until one night she is stood up by her date,

She hears the wild and frightening tales of the New England Slasher.

That night, Tara is nearly raped, and during that time of extreme fear and duress,

A voice echoes in her mind, controls her movements and tells her to kiss her would- be rapist.

When she does, the man dies at her feet.

So, why am I confused?

Well, the moment I met Tara’s character I disliked her. Honestly, I saw no redeeming qualities to her. She irritated me and annoyed the heck out of me, I felt like she had no sense.

However, Alecto- the Fury, I liked her.

What I did like was the story itself, the mythological twists and the portrayal of the Fury’s otherwise known as Erinys and Dirus. I thought the author touched on a subject that there isn’t that many books about, which made me fascinated.

Warning- I would say that this book is definitely in the adult category, I mean, it could pass off as New Adult but it’s…a fair bit raunchy. Fair warning. So there’s some language and mature content and sexual situations. (wow I feel like a movie disclaimer haha)

The romance was quick, as in…the love interests kind of jumped on each other pretty quickly. Denied it. Then loved each other again. It was pretty cliché. insta-love...or in this case, insta-pheromones.

This book truly isn’t a bad book, the story like I said was interesting. I just wasn’t a big fan of the characters. Though, I did like her best friends and the detective and Alecto, they were cool. So a part of me liked it and a part of me didn’t.

Though the confusion is, that even though I wasn’t a huge fan of this book, I’m legitimately curious about the second book!

Well that’s that!

Stay awesome!

This book was weird and I hated the narrator.

The accents in Fury's Kiss were laughable. I couldn't take the characters or the narrator seriously - especially when she did her guy voice. Speaking of the characters, I didn't like Jackson. I didn't want to ship him and Tara even if the smut was a bit good. No, because I hated him. Ugh the way he talked to and treated Tara made me rolls my eyes and plan his death at the same time. Besides her, the way he took "charge" of his sister and her kid was frustrating. It's like everyone's drinking crazy juice because I would've snapped at my brother if he ever did that to me. I don't give a flying fuck who you are in my life.. it's my invisible and fake kid - not yours!

Then there's Tara.. and ugh, I just can't! She constantly did stupid shit and I just ended up getting annoyed. I'll admit, these two had some weird ass chemistry going on throughout the book.. but the weird shit was just too much for me.

Overall, this book wasn't for me. It had potential but just turned out to be a disappointment. I'm sad because I picked this book for a BR and I definitely have to question my choices on books now.

I absolutely loved this book and cannot wait for the next one!! I fell in love with the characters and the style of writing right away. It's full of badass women who are strong and there for each other which is so rare in books these days. It was the perfect mix of humor and action, as well as romance. I am so interested in the world and mythology that is mixed into it. I highly recommend this book! This was my first time reading a book by this author and I am so glad that I did!! Thank you Nicola White!

Reviewed on Behalf of http://bookaddict.live,
I don’t what to say about this book. This book follows Tara's journey, and what happens when after  she is attacked, with her life in danger something ancient awakes inside her.
Tara lives with her 2 best friends Alex and Rachel, who try to help Tara, come to terms with her new path in life. Tara is lucky to have the support of Nora, Ruby her young daughter and Ruby’s Uncle Jackson who gets involved against his better Judgement.
This quite a fast paced adventure with evil chasing them and sometimes catching them. This is a great paranormal story which uses ancient legends and myths to bring to life this entertaining book. When Tara's Fury  Electra helps save the life of a young oracle Ruby. So instead of waiting for evil to come them, they decide to go and face it. This is book one, so we have quite a bit world building, and getting to know the players. This book was definitely Tara and Jackson's romance, so we have a complete story with a happy ever after for the main couple. Obviously a larger story arc will follow on to book two. A great start to an interesting new take on ancient myths and legends.
Elizabeth narrated all the voices including the male. I wasn’t pulled from the story once, so for me that is a big win. I was riveted from start to finish.

I was expecting to like this book. I did only decide to read this book to complete a reading challenge. The synopsis was good. So I went into this thinking it was going to be super good. But it was just meh...

Tara is a young girl who rooms with her two best friends. She ends up in a bad situation outside of a bar where a guy tries to rape her. She winds up killing him. Obviously she's super freaked out and goes home and tells her roomies about it. They then go into detective mode to find out who has been stalking her. She finds out that she has a Fury inside of her. A Fury is a very old goddess like entity who lives off of avenging people who were wronged and taking care of people who have blood on their hands.

Jackson is the brother of one of Tara's friends. Jackson's niece is an oracle and brings Tara together with Jackson. And altogether, Tara, Tara's friends, Jackson, Jackson's sister, and Jackson's niece, they work towards figuring out who is trying to kill Tara and Jackson's niece.

I wanted this book to catch me more than it did. And I was a little bummed that I didn't take to the story like I wanted to.

Ugh there was so much about this that bothered me so fucking much.

First Jackson. This douche canoe made me so mad every time he stepped on the page. He was so damn condescending to Tara because he was older. And I definitely thought he was 50 at first, which was fucking creepy. Then, he fucking tries to constantly tell Nora what to do/how to raise HER child. Like dick no. I don't care if you're the kid's uncle. She has a mother and you can back the FUCK off.

I will admit that there was chemistry between Tara/Electo and Jackson. However, they went at each other at such damn weird times. And they fucked outside, like why? Fucking weird twats.

The story was okay. I didn't really care that much. Tara did plenty of dumb things which pissed me off. Though I was fascinated by the Fury aspect. But I hated the narrator. Within one minute of hearing her, she gave me a headache.

I received this audiobook as part of my participation in a blog tour with Audiobookworm Promotions. The tour is being sponsored by Nicola R. White. The gifting of this audiobook did not affect my opinion of it.

I found Fury's Kiss intriguing and enjoyed the mystical aspect of it. Having our main character suddenly display special superpowers starts the book off with a bang, and it slowly unravels the mystery as Tara learns about the fury goddess inside her and her new abilities.

With the help of her "Scooby gang" group of friends and allies, including a young girl who is legit an oracle, our fury "snake lady" takes off after the big bad.

I loved that the big bad wasn't revealed right away, and even when he was, there was so much more to the story. The truth was so much darker. And more epic, of course.

My main complaint is when stories have a romance like this one - one of them denying their feelings and being quite the jerk about it. The let me give into my primal urges right here in the backyard and immediately say oh no but we can't be together - it drives me nuts, especially since it's such a common romance trope. But the sizzle between them was serious and spicy.

I definitely enjoyed the audiobook narration. The different accents and voices given to each character were great, and the voices fit each character's mood and age well. One to add to the listen again list for sure.

There's a serial rapist terrorizing the New England town of Hawthorne. Tara is a waitress at an upscale restaurant. But she's been stood up. As she waits for her date, she meets a man she thinks is nice enough until things get violent. When Tara fights back, something strange happens. She finds strength she never had before and a weird impulse to suck the rapists breath out of his body. Turns out, Tara isn't just a waitress, she's a superhuman Fury. Now, she has to deal with these new powers while trying to hold onto her dreams and ambitions.

Fury's Kiss is a fun, fast-paced supernatural romance story. The characters are well-crafted and believable, and the writing is solid. I really enjoyed the book and plan to read more.

Very Entertaining. Fun, sassy female characters. Action driven.

Despite the cover (ugh! Dear publishers, please let’s change that cover!) this book had me at “Furies” and “New England” :)

Yup that’s right, I’m a very serious reader people. I choose my books based on a very strict criteria :)

As you may know already live in New England so that kinda explains it.

Fury's Kiss, New England Furies Book 1,  Nicola R. White
Review from Jeannie Zelos book reviews
Genre:  Romance, Fantasy and Sci-fi
I really enjoyed this book, it’s got for me the perfect blend of romance and fantasy. sometimes these reads are over dominated by the romance, and while I enjoy that side I really want a strong paranormal slant to the tale and I got just that here. I look forward to reading more in the series. Furies. an unusual thing to find in the paranormal genre...and yet another book I read only two days ago also had a Fury in it...strange co-incidence. ( Rachel Vincent’s Menagerie if anyone’s interested – another good read and first in series!)  I can’t think of the last time I read of one in a story, and was so surprised to find two at once.
Anyway, on with the book. I liked Tara, and understood just how shocked she was to find out what was happening to her. I liked that she was finding it difficult to cope, hard to accept. Some books have lead characters taking everything in their stride but Tara doesn’t want to let go of “her”, of the person she is and let the Fury inside her take over. Its a slow partnership but they find a way to work together finally that keeps them both happy. Then there’s Nora and Ruby, who’s more than she seems and such a cute girl. Of course Jackson, Ruby’s uncle is super protective of her, and despite the attraction that sears between him and Tara right from their first meet they have a fairly antagonistic approach to each other for quite some time. Tara thinks he’s a jerk, a handsome one granted, but he just jumps to conclusions about her and is convinced she’s going to bring trouble to Nora and Ruby. For a long time he  won’t take Nora’s word that there’s more to Ruby that just a cute kid, and she has the tools to help them. Of course Tara’s two good friends play a large partalso, and that seems to be the main team for future books. I’m really keen to see where the story goes next.
In this episode Tara is being stalked, but by whom, and why and how does it link in to Ruby? For it soon becomes clear the group are all connected in some way, and that they’ve found each other for a reason. Its a fun read, not too dense and hard to follow, not too dominated by heavy fight scenes, no OTT adventures that get confusing, but lots of puzzles and mysteries to work out; who, why, how and what comes next but which are all laid out in a clear and logical way? And of course, not so over dominated by the romance as so many fantasy/paranormal reads are. Far too often the romance is really all the story consists of, but here there’s a solid and unusual story unfolding that I really enjoyed.
Stars: Five, a great read, well balanced and with an unusual fantasy plot.

Furies ...
Was on the fence about this one because initially I had trouble connecting with both female and male lead. Not to mention, reading about Furies isn't my norm but I decided to give it a go. I can honestly say that I wasn't disappointed. The storyline is good even if I have/had a problem with the lead characters.

Tara Walker is just a young lady working hard to fulfill some of her dreams. Then an attack by a not too bad looking stranger changes everything in an instant. Now, she must move forward with the . Tara as the the female lead took to getting used to. I found her to be a little too happy go lucky when it came to being possessed by an ancient Grecian god (of sorts). Her character kind of automatically fell into superhero mode rather quickly. Not that she's supposed to sit back and brood about it but there is something missing between discovery and full steam ahead. Never the less, the author wrote a strong female lead to introduce readers to the series.

The male lead, Jackson Byrne on the other hand is hard to like. His character is so hot and cold. He's just an a-hole times 100 but I think that is just a part of his appeal. He wasn't one of those I see you, I love you and now let me hump your leg the rest of the book kind of lead. He has the sex appeal some readers look for but Jackson's character isn't the smoldering looks kind of guy. His character's personality fits considering he's a former Navy Seal.

The really great thing about Fury's Kiss are the secondary characters. They're all good and memorable. The other good thing about the story is that it started off full steam ahead and didn't stop until the final action sequence.

Overall I give this a 3.5 rating.

I loved this book! It was so different than what I have been reading but that is what made it awesome! It stood out from the other books because of the fast paced story telling and all of the little bits of information we find out along the way, I loved how the author gave us just enough information to keep us wanting to know more but not so much to where we think we have the whole story all figured out and lose interest. We've all been there to where we get all of our questions answered (information overload style) and start to skim the rest of the book. I'm guilty of this I admit on occasion. But this book kept me thinking and pondering and completely engrossed in the story until the very end. And I was totally looking for more pages after the last page. I'm totally in a hurry for book two in this series.

Now moving on to a few of my favorite elements of this story.

1. I love the relationship between Tara and her friends and how they have such a strong bond. This element becomes really important in the later chapters and I love how it all developed.

2. Greek Mythology! Yes, it has been done but it is still fresh and exciting in this book and thankfully it didn't go all Rick Riordan on us (While I do love the Percy Jackson series I was hoping this one was more for us adults, was not disappointed!)

3. Tara and Jackson! Adorably snarky haha you'll see when you read it. Few literary couples have as strong of a push and pull kind of relationship going.

All in all, this is a new must one click author for me! And this is the main thing I love about running this blog, I get the chance to find all of these new to me authors and read their books and then spew about it to my hearts content for those of you who follow my antics here.

Fury's Kiss is the exciting first novel in Nicola R. White's New England Furies Series. This novel follows main character Tara Walker, flanked by best friends Rachel and Alex. This novel gets off to an exciting start when Tara stops at a bar called Spyders, after being stood up on a blind date. Spyder's is usually a busy, upbeat atmosphere, but due to a murder in the area recently, patronage has seriously declined. Apparently, there has been a string of attacks and the media has named the serial rapist (and now murderer) the New England Slasher. Tara, a bit frustrated after her failed date, attempts to hook up with a guy she meets outside the bar, but he attacks her instead. She responds by kissing him and...sucking the life out of him.

Tara tells her roommates and best friends about the event the next day. To their credit, the take it in stride, especially after her eyes turn blood red and hair gets all snake like. Bookish friend Rachel sets out to find out what is going on with her best friend. But the answer comes from a very surprising source, to say the least. Going through this book, it almost seems like Tara is the last to know what she is. Besides her new love interest, Jackson maybe.

This is not a vampire, werewolf, faerie, demon book. The supernatural element here is steeped in Greek mythology, which I love. I think there is ample explanation if you are not a reader of greek mythology, to still read and enjoy this novel. I thoroughly enjoyed this novel, and read the sneak peek of the second one as well, which I am excited for. I think this series is going to be really good!

Modern day story that brings Greek mythology to life in a whole new way.

Tara has led a pretty boring life just doing her job and trying to get by day by day as she hopes to one day open and own her own restaurant. But life gets a little more interesting when a Fury wakes up inside her head and starts taking over bent on seeking vengeance from those she has meet who have done wrong. And it gets even more complicated when she is implicated in a murder. If she is going to stay out of the jail cell she's going to have to rely on her own smarts as well as those of her best friend and one cute little girl who just so happens to be an Oracle as well as a sexy man who just so happens to be the uncle of the Oracle.

Tara does what she has to do and doesn't complain when things get tough. She is not one to shirk away from things either and says what's on her mind even when she should think first.

Jackson is a bit of a wishy washy man when it comes to what he wants in his personal life, but the one thing he never shirks from is his duty to protect his niece and those he cares about. When it comes to Tara he might be a but of an idiot but he manages to redeem himself in the end.

I love seeing this new world created and how the characters just come to life before your eyes and I can't wait to see more of it!

***** 3.5 Furious Stars *****

Fury's Kiss had some good romance and action. Tara is strong, determined, and stubborn. She is also sharing her body with a mythological being, and this entity wants vengeance.

There were some moments where the story dragged, but overall it was interesting. Jackson and Tara also had some steamy moments that I enjoyed. I'll probably read the next book in the series.

Tara's neighbor Mrs. Hadley was a damn hoot, “and you, young man.” Mrs. Hadley popped back into view and picked up her scolding as though she’d never broken off. “In my day, gentleman callers may have gotten fresh from time to time, but they certainly didn’t disrobe in the backyard. For shame!” She was so entertaining, “Tara, dear,” Mrs. Hadley replied, peering at me over the top of her bifocals, “don’t play dumb . It’s not attractive.” Jackson snorted, then tried to disguise it as a cough when I cut my eyes at him. “You’d better just come over for a nice piece of apple crumble,” she continued. “We have a lot to discuss.” Jackson knew how to kick a girl while she was down, he needed a swift kick in the area at times, “look, I’ve tried to be nice, but you’re not getting the message. This was fun, but I’m not interested in anything more. I’m not able to give you anything more.” He went inside and didn’t look back." I was completely enthralled in this book I thought there might be a cliffhanger but come to find out its a stand alone and each book in the series will be about different characters which I'm really happy about. I can't wait for the next book!

Tara was just going about her business like any other day when she is viciously attacked, you would think that is what has her traumatized but that is not the case, what has her spooked is what she somehow managed to do to her attacker! I mean how does a little girl like her manage to not only fight him off but kill him in the process. Now she has bigger things to worry about like keeping her butt out of jail. With the help of her best friends and roommates along with the bar tender Nora and an enigmatic man named Jackson they come up with a plan. They all also help Tara try to figure out what is happening to her. While reluctant to believe their batty old neighbor the proof speaks for itself, Tara is becoming a Fury and there will be more like her soon to help her stop a great and ancient evil that has arisen. While trying to piece things together Tara and Jackson are fighting this insane attraction. While her inner Fury claims him as her Mate, Jackson is a little harder to convince. An exhilarating read that will leave you begging for more!

This was interesting, and rather enjoyable. There is a solid start to a series here and I am anxious to watch it grow. We meet Tara first off, and BAM do things go from what you would think would be a slow build to way more very quickly. I don’t want to give much away but there is plenty going on in this story. Thankfully Rachel dumbs down some of it because I am not up on my Greek mythology at all. I for one did see a few of the angles coming because…let’s face it; it just wouldn’t work any other way. Jackson was wishy washy in ways that had me wanting to break out my scary snake hair, lol! Tara and her friends Alex and Rachel are fun females and I really liked sweet Ruby and Nora. Hopefully we wont be waiting long for the next story, I find myself rather sucked into the world that this author weaved.

Nicola whites wrote an amazing story. I have found myself gravitating towards Greek mythology and fantasy-based stories recently. I don’t know if it’s just the kind of mood but I am really into it right now. Fury’s Kiss is an amazing story. I have never really thought about fury in terms of books before. I have seen a lot of TV shows that have to do with Greek mythology and furious were in them. I think Elizabeth Tebb really brings the story to life. When a voice actor takes on the role as a narrator for an audiobook I really honestly believe that they will either make or break the store him. It’s all about the experience when listening to an audiobook.

Nicola as I said wrote an amazing story. The overall mythology I found to be really interesting and I really want to sink my teeth into the next Book this way I can just keep myself immersed into this world. I really like the idea that furies aren’t just to these killing machines. I know that they are meant for revenge and justice. I learned that they can also help people and well into justice they can help protect people as well. They don’t need to just kill. To learn about the sisterhood of the fury is really cool. In some sort of way they kind of remind me of Valkyries I know that they’re not the same thing but if I had to think of something comparable it would be the Valkyrie. Again I know completely different jobs but at the same time Valkyries or women and there’s a sisterhood there and they need one another to help bring warriors to help that final battle. I would love to get more into the mythology side of all of this. And where the furies ever just themselves?

Also, I think I should’ve mentioned that this book in my opinion would be classified more as a new adult novel. So if you are under the age of 17 I would ask your parents because there are sex scenes in this novel so and they get pretty hot and heavy so please keep that in mind if you want to read this book I would definitely get the parents permission if you are under the age of 17.

This is just one of the many questions that I have and I hope that will be answered in one of the later books. I know that there are four books out total and this one that I currently read is the only audiobook.

When I was a kid I hated reading physical books so I always turn to audiobooks. Even as an adult I still prefer audio box to regular reading because to me it’s so much easier to visualize and I really think that Elizabeth does a very good job in Helping me create such a visual that is not only pleasing to me but really helps immerse myself in the experience of listening to this book. This is the first book that I’ve ever read by Nicola and this is also the first book that I have heard Elizabeth narrate.

Elizabeth does an amazing performance. Her voice is so rich and smooth that I had to stop myself from nodding off a time or to. For me this is a really good asset when it comes to an audiobook because it means I can just fully relax and let my mind wander back into this world and having a voice actor who is able to do that I love. I have a lot of go to narrators that I will listen to and a lot auto buy storytellers that I will buy their audiobooks. For me I just want to immerse myself in the box that they are narrating and Elizabeth has definitely become one of them for me. I will have to say though that I found the range of voices for males to be kind of limiting. There were a total of two different southern accents that were good and one British accent that I foundTo be authentic sounding. Now for me when I listen to an audiobook I typically tend to listen to it at double the speed or triple the speed. That’s just how I personally tend to listen to my audiobooks. When I do start off though I will started at 1.6 times the speed just so I can kind of hear what a narrator really sounds like and their speech patterns. When a voice actor tends to talk really fast I don’t have to speed up the audiobook too much because then I won’t be able to catch what they’re saying. Elizabeth when she speaks she enunciate every word so it’s a bit of a slower tone. Which is great for people who can’t really keep up with fast talking. I find for me that if a narrator talks a little slower it really impacts my view of the story. And I really don’t enjoy myself as much. Having the ability to speed up the track I find that for me it just makes it a more enjoyable experience.

When I first started listening to it I did hear a lot of white noise. And when Elizabeth was going into the fury’s Voice she had to make her sound more snake like and I found that when she exaggerated her ass a little bit I really didn’t like what I did to the audio. If that made sense when I did end up speeding it up I found that that went away. Another point I would like to bring up is that because I do speed up my audios it’s important for me that the tone of the story doesn’t change too much. I know that when you speed something up the voices time to go a little bit higher in page and it doesn’t sound like how the voice actor should sound. I have to say I didn’t find that with this book. Which for me is pretty phenomenon.

I would definitely highly recommend this audiobook to people who I love audiobooks or somebody who wants to get in to listening to audiobooks. Whether I can say I would prefer this over the physical book I definitely have to say I prefer this over the physical book. I have the choice I would always prefer to go for the audiobook.

I received this audiobook as part of my participation in a blog tour with Audiobookworm Promotions. The tour is being sponsored by Nicola R. White. The gifting of this audiobook did not affect my opinion of it.

What An Exciting Story, I Want More!

Fury's Kiss is #01 in the New England Furies Series by Nicola R. White.

Elizabeth Tebb narrates.

HEA with No cliffhangers!

This is a connected series, with interacting characters, places, and themes. I would recommend reading these in order.

Length: 9 hrs and 2 mins

Content Advisory:
There is sex, dirty talk, and cursing. 👍 This is action packed so things are all part of the action.
There is a attempted rape scene in the beginning.

At the time of this posting, this title is currently available as part of the Audible Romance Package .

If you like Mythology, you are going to love this title! Lots of Greek lore that isn't touched on as much, which is refreshing. The Furies take front and center, and they are pretty bad-ass!

“Hell has no Fury like a woman scorned!”

This series focuses on 3 Hot Messes of roommates that are also BFFs. They will come to inhabit a Fury to ultimately stop a big bad, maybe more than one, that is coming into our world. Well, that is over simplifying it, because these ladies are pretty bad in their own right. Alecto, Fury of Vengeance, finds her home in Tara. The shadow cat Fury of Jealousy, Megaera, finds a fitting home in Alex. While the slightly more logical Fury or Murder, Tisiphone, finds a home in Rach. Apate, Eris, and Keres are all mentioned as the potential foe, so not for sure if there is going to be more than one Top Villain, or all three.

“If Rachel’s first instinct was still to diagram the problem, my world hadn’t changed so much, after all.”
-- Tara

Fury's Kiss focuses on Tara Walker the waitress. Once this story gets going, its hard to put it down. There is a little bit of everything that makes a great Paranormal read. There is romance, some laughs, adventure, the girlfriends you wish you had, super awesome powers, plus all the great bits of mythology you know and love. Plus some that I knew about but not in as much detail as I do now!

“Rach, I cannot become a dog-girl with bat wings. That is not OK.”
-- Tara

The Scooby Gang comes together quite quickly. You are introduced to all the major players of the the first 3 main books so I would suggest reading in order, as there are tid-bits that help fill out a character's profile that you would loose if you start in the middle. Only #01 is in audio at this moment, but there are plans to get the others out soon. That's about the only bad thing I can say about this title and series. The E-Books are available on Amazon for all that is currently written, just not audio.

Nicola R. White has created some awesome characters I just can't get enough of. 😊 I can't wait for the rest of the series to make it to audio. This was my first listen and won't be my last!

This was my first listen by Elizabeth Tebb. I could totally get lost in the story which is what you want from narrator. I did not like the Cajun accent for Ty. I grew up in the area that accent comes from and it did not work for me. Luckily it's not used much.

Normal speed was fine, however I listened at 0.90x. It is my personal preference.

I received an eARC, from NetGalley and the publisher, in exchange for an honest review.
This is book one in the "New England Furies"series.
Tara Walker is attacked and almost raped...but something within her at the time of the attach comes forward and she kills the man who was attacking her. This scares Tara as she doesn't know what came out of her that made her do this. Know that know one would believe her that she was attacked and that she 'changed' and killed him...she leaves the scene. Now Tara is trying to research what happened to her... along with her friends help and Jackson Bryne who doesn't believe in the supernatural but is part of the mix to solve this mystery.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for a honest review.

I had some serious issues with this book and try as I might, I have given up on it at a little over 70%.

The characters are just so flat and the writing is so jerky that I feel as if I have whiplash. The dialogue is just awful. It seriously makes me want to pull my hair out.

All in all, this book can be summed up in one sentence :

Excellent ideas, horrible writing and execution.
