Public Service Loan Forgiveness with Certified Student Loan Professional Meagan Landress The WoMed

    • Medicine

Financial wellness is a huge part of our overall well-being, and as healthcare workers, a six-figure debt is not uncommon. Today your hosts are joined by Student Loan Planner consultant Meagan Landress who reminds us that student loan debt is treatable with the correct plan of action. Meagan joined Student Loan Planner in 2019 and since has consulted on $160M+ of student loan debt for over 900 households. Meagan shares what the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program is, how to know if you’re eligible, and what comes next after you qualify. She then discusses the 4 things you have to continue to maintain in order to remain eligible, and how Biden’s recent news about loan forgiveness fits into this discussion. Meagan also talks about the PSLF waiver, which allows people to go back and get credits for months that were previously ineligible. However, this opportunity only lasts until October 31, 2022, so it’s crucial that every public servant with any kind of federal loan knows about this PSLF expansion. If you’re feeling haunted by your student loans, we hope this episode can provide some direction and support.
Meagan was the first person in Georgia to acquire her CSLP® designation, as a Certified Student Loan Professional®. If not with Student Loan Planner, Meagan and the WoMed team encourage you to seek out a certified student loan professional (CSLP).
