Happy International Women’s Day! One of the great professional and personal joys of my life is the incredible network of fearless, visionary and compassionate women who have been around me my entire adult life. Whenever there’s a challenge or a moment that literally knocks me back on my heels, I know all I need to do is pick up the phone and someone wise, supportive and of uncompromising strength will guide my thinking. In the past two months as the Executive Editor of Florida Trend, I’ve come to see just how powerfully women entrepreneurs and business leaders are shaping the economy and our future. I wanted to share a little about three women entrepreneurs whose stories resonated with me, not just for their pursuit of their dreams but in how they make giving back part of their enterprise. Motivated by the lack of Latina representation in the beauty space and inspired to create something beautiful after her mother passed away from glioblastoma in 2018, Suhay Gonzalez, of Palm Beach, launched Seis Cosmetics. Suhay, a CFO in the health care industry by profession, had no prior experience in the beauty and cosmetics industry when she created a cruelty-free line of cosmetics in shades formulated intentionally to be inclusive of a wide range of skin tones. A percentage of all profits are donated to brain health awareness and research in honor of her mother. Check out Seis Cosmetics at https://lnkd.in/ddZR_dRs Desiree Noisette of St. Petersburg holds the distinction of founding Florida’s first black female wine brand. An attorney who formerly had practiced construction law, Desiree is blazing a trail with her brand, Mermosa, founded in 2017. Desiree is also the artistic vision behind the brand’s look and feel. Last year, Mermosa began an effort to support the International African American Museum in Charleston, S.C., and its Center for Family History that uses expert genealogical research to connect families, build family trees and discover untold stories. She calls the effort “The Cousin Peggy Project” after her family’s own beloved historian. Learn more about Mermosa at https://mermosa.com. Cristie Besu is a first-generation Cuban-American from Miami, a single mother of three, and an emergency room nurse whose longtime interest in nutrition and fitness led her to a certificate in sports nutrition. She started baking high-protein, low-carb brownies in her kitchen and in 2013 launched Eat Me Guilt Free as a passion project. Even though she had know busines experience, the company took off with her products making their way to grocery stories and sports nutrition shops. Besu has since launched the “You Glow Girl” grant program to support other female founders in their professional and personal growth. Check out the company at https://lnkd.in/dbJZ4-Am. Let’s support and celebrate women in business - every day! #womeninbusiness #womenempowerment #internationalwomensday #halfthesky #futureisfemale

Vickie Chachere I was at Times Tampa Bay - Tampa site yesterday doing some IT work and I overheard some very positive things about. They really love what you're doing there. I thought they were talking about #WonderWoman for a moment. 😂 Keep up the great work!
