KATALIN NOVÁK RESIGNS AS PRESIDENT OF HUNGARY

10 February 2024 - Hungary’s President Katalin Novák resigned from office this Saturday, February 10. In an address to the nation she acknowledged that she made an error of judgment in granting a pardon last year.

“As a Hungarian, I would hope that the President of Hungary would not make mistakes. If he does make them, I would expect him to stand up to those he is accountable to and take responsibility. Even by resigning from the office of President of Hungary. [Today is the last time I address you as President of Hungary. I am resigning as President,” he said.

10 January 2024 - In a recent address to the members of the Diplomatic Corps accredited to the Vatican, Pope Francis called for respect for the authentic meaning of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) in the face of attempts at “ideological colonization” that seek to “introduce new rights that are neither fully consistent with those originally defined”.

4 January 2024 - In Nicaragua, religious freedom is flagrantly violated and persecution against the Catholic Church is growing. In the last three weeks, the dictatorship of Daniel Ortega has unjustly kidnapped and imprisoned at least 14 priests who were carrying out pastoral and worship functions typical of the Christmas period.

4 January 2024 - There are now 18 Catholic bishops, priests and seminarians kidnapped and unjustly imprisoned by the dictator Daniel Ortega in Nicaragua.
