Maya’s teenage older sister is always telling stories. Usually about the unsettling grey man from the high street, and the mysterious woman who turned him grey. That woman. She can turn anyone grey. First, it’s your breath, then your fingers, your insides. Then you go into lockdown... 

 

Selected by the Guardian as last year’s best digital theatre to stream in December 2022, GREY MAN is a chilling exploration of identity, mental illness and the power of storytelling to haunt or heal us. The piece was written in 2015 as a theatrical monologue for the character ‘Maya’. In 2016 it was presented as a one-woman stage show, played consecutively by two different women to highlight the way our perspective can alter the events of our lives. This screen production intercuts those two parallel versions of ‘Maya’ in an innovative collision of stage and screen.
