Dane Corbett had left Eva Falls in pursuit of dreams. When he is drawn back to the very place from which he ran, he discovers the mayor’s daughter lying in a ditch. She is not the same vibrant woman he left behind, and he wants answers.

Since Jessa's debut novel, Desperate Whispers, you’re most likely to find Jessa writing her heart out each day in her little part of the world. She loves coffee and cupcakes. Shoes and purses. Tends to Google way too much and thinks tattoos are awesome. She loves all kinds of music and her heart melts while watching rescue dog videos, often crying when misery turns into a real happily ever after. She believes in the happiness of her characters and giving her readers a satisfying ending.

I was given a copy by the author in exchange for an honest review.

Dane left town to go after his dreams, but when he is pulled back to Eva Fall's he finds Rachel lying in a ditch. Rachel is not the same as she was when he left. Something is haunting her and she has put up walls to keep people out. Now together can they slay her demons and find love?

I really enjoyed this story, it is very well written and flows easily. I look forward to reading more from this author.

Don't let the past tear down your happiness...

Dane has been gone from Eva Falls for 11 years. He's back now, a successful businessman working on the takeover of the local bank. He grew up as the town pariah, thanks to his no-good, cheating, drinking, gambling, whoring father, and the twin brother hell-bent on following in dad's footsteps. Rachel was always a good girl, the mayor's daughter with a secret crush on Dane. When he arrives in town, he finds her in a ditch, hurt during a storm/flash flood. And she's not the same person he remembers. Dane is definitely swoon-worthy, remembering what might have been with Rachel, working to gain her trust, trying to get her to fall in love with him as much as he has with her. Rachel's been through so much; from his brother to her completely dysfunctional family, I'm not sure how she kept it together until Dane. Rachel's gran, Ellie, only wants Rachel to be happy, and she's not afraid to put everyone in the family in their place. Her best friend, Dani - that girl has no filter on her mouth, but she love Rachel like a sister, fiercely loyal to her. Romance, family drama and surprises, kidnapping, more romance... I loved this book, easily my favorite from this author.

The writing will draw you in after only a few pages and have you finishing the book in one sitting.
There is the perfect amount of angst and romance and grit to keep you hooked.

I loved how their relationship unfolded so we could see these amazing characters grow in ways you never expected.
I would suggest picking up a copy asap, you will not be disappointed.

This is the 2nd book I've read written by Beth Mikell; she has done a great job at writing a good book; I can’t wait to read more of her books.

The story line caught my attention at the very beginning and kept me interested throughout the entire book.

I loved the characters.

This was my first book by this author. I enjoyed the story and loved the Characters. I really enjoyed the outward confidence that the male lead put out while internally he was unsure and almost plagued by his past. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys romance novels with a bit of suspense.

This was a beautiful second chance romance by Jessa Ely, a new author to me, and I was pleasantly surprised by the story of Dane and Rachel. Two families torn apart by lies, deception, and anger; drawing out years of resentment. Dane left town to have a life of his own, away from the likes of his abusive drunk father and brother who happened to follow in the awful footsteps of his father. Years later, he returns to his hometown of Eva Falls, with the shadows of his family residing.

Needless to say, Dane wasn’t welcomed back with open arms. One night while driving, he literally runs into Rachel, his long lost love, and emotions immediately run wild between the two of them. Together they try to rebuild a relationship they longed to have, and set wrongs right. Little does Dane know, Rachel is harboring a tragic secret that could destroy their renewed happiness.

This is a story of true love, tragic heartache, and the power to change the perception of others. When you love someone with all your heart, you will do anything to make things right, and Dane shows us the true meaning of conquering your demons, and showing others your true self. He’s an absolute heartbreaker, and there’s definitely some book boyfriend love going on. We should all be so lucky to have someone truly fight for us, no matter what anyone else thinks.
