Born in Africa’s Ivory Coast before coming to the States, singer-songwriter spent his adolescence growing up in Boston where he began making music alongside his close friend—who ended up teaching him music theory. On top of drawing influences from the likes of Future Islands, Kid Cudi, Sam Cooke, Jimi Hendrix, and Erykah Badu, it was his mother who pushed him to be as creative as possible when it came to the art of making music.
Now, the Iceland-based recording artist unleashes his new single titled “Postmodern Black,” exclusively on Flaunt. The song is a sonic manifestation of his own self-reliance. Being a young African man, he understands his responsibility to his kinfolk to push independence and fortitude during these hard times. The title of the song is directly inspired by an essay written by bell hooks in 1990.
Speaking exclusively on the release, snny states, “Every black kid should feel like a superhero, I really wanted to create something that embodies that spirit."
“Postmodern Black” follows the success of the 29-year-old’s latest EP titled _Otito_, which garnered half a million streams in the last 2 months_._ The single can be found on his forthcoming debut album, which will be released via his new record label called Radio Silence.
