Brooklyn Capsules: TWINKLE DAMMIT and THE RIGHT GIRLS

TINKLE DAMMIT!
Portrait of Margaret Leng Tan who was the first woman to earn a doctorate from Julliard. Specializing in avant garde music she embarks on a preparing a new work from George Crumb that features her favorite toy piano.

It really helps to know who Leng Tan is since any biographical information is dolled out in little bits. More a look at the artist right now then a look at her whole life, the film focuses on her working with Crumb to create the new work. The result is a minor curio instead of a major work since there is no sense of the whole life just the present.

For fans only.

THE RIGHT GIRLS
Valentina, Johanna and Chantal are three young transgender women from El Salvador and Honduras traveling through Mexico within the Trump booga booga "Migrant Caravan". They bond along the way and work to remain together.

Good low key film about women trying to make it to a place of safety and asylum since they don't think they are safe back home. The film is a fly on the wall portrait as we travel along with the the women as they make their way to America.

Worth a look.
