2018 NBA Free Agency: Wizards officially sign Jeff Green

On Tuesday, the Wizards officially signed Jeff Green. Green last played for the Cavaliers where he averaged 10.8 points and 3.2 rebounds a game in a sixth man role for the Eastern Conference champions. He has played 10 seasons for multiple NBA teams where he was best known for being on the Seattle SuperSonics/Oklahoma Thunder from 2007 to 2011 and the Boston Celtics from 2011 to 2015.

In a press release, Ernie Grunfeld said “Jeff is a proven veteran who will add to our frontcourt rotation with his ability to play and defend multiple positions. We’re excited to be bringing him back to the D.C. area and look forward to his experience and professionalism benefiting us on the court and in the locker room.”

This may be Green’s first season in Washington, D.C. as a player, but he is from Cheverly, Maryland where he attended Northwestern High School in Hyattsville. From there, Green went to Georgetown University, where he played from 2004 to 2007 and was on the Hoyas’ Final Four team in his junior season. Though he ended his college career a season early, Green went on to graduate from Georgetown in 2012 with a Bachelors degree in English and theology minor.
