Bierschnaps is a high proof spirit made from beer. Traditionally hailing from the Bavarian region of Germany, where many small breweries also have a small still, we make ours here in Maine by fermenting barley and hops and distilling this beer in our small still. Notes of malted grains and the floral, citrusy essence of hops make their way through the column as we turn beer into a high proof distillate. We rest this spirit in used barrels, where it takes on a golden hue and subtle oak flavors. The result is a truly unique spirit, one that showcases the relationship between brewery and distillery.
