Geographer who holds an MSc in Local Development and Territory and is a Ph.D. candidate in Geography and Land Planning. In the realm of digital platforms and innovation, he brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise. With a particular focus on the intersection of technology and urban dynamics, his work spans various domains, including Airbnb, multicriteria analysis, Arduino, smart cities, and spatial analysis. His insightful research delves into the impacts of these digital platforms on urban environments, exploring topics such as tourism, gentrification, and land use. With a passion for innovation and a deep understanding of the complexities of modern cities, he is at the forefront of shaping sustainable and inclusive urban futures.

Myrna Quiñones | Associate Director |Head of Urban Research | Urban Lab – FactaTerrae

Geographer who holds an MSc in Local Development and Territory and is a Ph.D. candidate in Geography and Land Planning. Training in research and territorial analysis at the local, municipal, and state levels, experience in publication and scientific dissemination. Coordination of research projects, and work experience in the field of geography, specifically in the study of political-administrative territorial limits through field and office work. Experience in negotiation tables with authorities and local actors. Coordination and participation in collective, cultural, and artistic exhibitions in different municipalities of the State.

Diego Espinoza | Head of Rural Research | Urban Lab – FactaTerrae

Geographer who holds an MSc in Local Development and Territory and is a Ph.D. candidate in Geography and Land Planning. With a keen focus on understanding the intricate relationship between geography and society, he delves into electoral patterns, examining how spatial factors influence political outcomes and representation. Additionally, his research delves into rural landscapes, investigating the complexities of agricultural production, rural development, and the interconnectivity of production chains. Through his expertise in industrial security, he explores the spatial dynamics of manufacturing and infrastructure, identifying vulnerabilities and proposing strategies to enhance resilience. Furthermore, his commitment to environmental analysis utilizes GIS and spatial analysis to assess environmental impacts and promote sustainable practices. Emphasizing qualitative methodologies, he captures nuanced perspectives and narratives, ensuring a holistic understanding of the social, economic, and cultural dimensions of geography.

José Benjamín Gutiérrez | Research Associate and Head of Colombian Chapter | Urban Lab – FactaTerrae

Colombian MSc candidate in Data Science and Big Data. Civil Engineer, specializing in Territorial Management and Appraisals. He also has an MSc in Big Data and Data Analytics and is completing an MSc in Renewable Energy. He has worked both in the banking sector and the construction of civil works. His experience has given him a solid understanding of electricity markets, data analysis and modeling, and Big Data management. In addition, he has gained experience in the electricity sector, where he has conducted energy market trend analysis, operational research, and energy industry regulatory studies. His skills in programming and statistics complement his ability to analyze and model data, and he aspires to use these competencies to contribute to the development and implementation of innovative and sustainable energy solutions.
