Regional Redeployment Service Launched

Regional Redeployment Service Launched

The National Careers Service (NCS) provides personalised careers information, advice and guidance services to all adults and young people aged 13 and over. Adviza is the Prime Contractor for the South West and Oxfordshire Region including Swindon and Wiltshire.

As a result of the Coronavirus pandemic, in addition to their core offer, NCS have extended their support to include Local Enterprise Partnerships and other key stakeholders.

A Regional Redeployment Service has been launched with the aim of supporting individuals and employers in addressing not only the immediate needs and challenges brought about by this crisis, but also long term support to ensure a robust economic recovery for the future.

The Regional Redeployment Service offers the following, but not limited to, support:

Local and National Partnerships

Providing bespoke support to employers, employer groups, sector bodies and local/regional partnerships, many of who are joining forces to create solutions, often maximising digital and other innovative responses.

Recruitment support

In addition to working directly with local Job Centre’s, support is available for employers who are looking to recruit and train staff into essential vacancies; matching employees facing redundancy or looking for work to access new and in-demand jobs across various sectors.

Direct Support for Furloughed Workers

Whilst many employers are eagerly anticipating  a return to work of staff, advice and guidance to support workers who have been furloughed is available and will support immediate goals through the development of skills and provide access to training in readiness for employment resuming.

During this period of uncertainty, workers may also reflect on their careers and consider alternative employment routes that meet their longer term aspirations. The Redeployment Service provides opportunities to develop job application techniques and interviews skills, whilst identifying any skills gaps.

This support is also suitable for workers that are facing redundancy or may be at risk of redundancy in the future.

Direct Support for Employers of Furloughed Workers

Businesses and employers across the Swindon and Wiltshire area, who are having to make changes to their workforce as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic can access free support from NCS. Advice on recruitment, retention and progression is on offer through this service and help to support the identification of key skills required across the organisation is available to aid future planning and development.

Employers needing to make redundancies can access this service to aid the transition for affected employees into new work. It is important to follow the advice on the website if this statement applies to your business. There are two options depending on whether up to five staff will be affected or if you are planning to make larger-scale redundancies.

Supporting Learners Affected in Colleges, Universities and Work Based Learning

Packages of support are available to learners who find themselves displaced from learning, particularly those undertaking work-based learning and apprenticeships. Support may focus on continuing learning or exploring transferrable skills to gain access to other areas of learning and industry.

Support for Pupils, Parents and Carers

Working with the Education and Skills Funding Agency, NCS are developing a careers advice and guidance package for parents/guardians and pupils to use at home. Support is also available to students effected by examinations being cancelled this academic year and the impact on future aspirations.
