Hampton Lakes Emergency Squad (HLES) is a registered 501(C)3 non-profit emergency medical services squad dedicated to providing high quality prehospital care to the sick and injured residents and visitors of Southampton Township.

We are proud to provide 24/7/365 staffed coverage from our station in Hampton Lakes with one Basic Life Support (BLS) ambulance.
​
HLES maintains a fleet of 4 BLS ambulances and 1 command vehicle. A highly dedicated team of 40 volunteer and career members ensure the rapid and professional delivery of prehospital emergency medical care.

Hampton Lakes Emergency Squad was started in 1958 under the name "Oriale Emergency Squad." In 1972, Hampton Lakes Emergency Squad was incorporated.

Today, our team of dedicated volunteer and career members continue to provide the best prehospital emergency medical care to the sick and injured just as we have since our creation in 1958.

WE RELY ON YOUR SUPPORT
As a 501C3 not-for-profit organization, we are a private entity that is contracted to Southampton Township to provide Emergency Medical Services. As such, we are not funded directly from tax dollars or by the municipal budget. We do receive support our Southampton Township in the form of services provided by the Township including: fuel, insurance for our vehicles, worker's compensation insurance for our volunteer members, and minor maintenance work by the township Department of Public Works.
The support given to us by Southampton Township is HUGE - But it is your support that carries us!
The main sources of our funding is from billing insurance companies for the TRANSPORT of patients, and donations.

Unfortunately, the insurance system is broken and does not adequately provide reimbursement for expenses. As noted above, we are only able to bill insurance companies for TRANSPORTS, which only makes up roughly 50% of our calls. The remainder of our calls are cancelations where services are not needed or refusals of medical assistance (RMA) where transport is not required but a treatment or evaluation is completed. This could be a variety of things including: evaluating a motor vehicle accident victim, assisting a fall victim off the floor, administering medication to a diabetic whose blood sugar has dropped, evaluating a sick person, or responding to cardiac arrests where a person is unable to be resuscitated despite attempt. All of these examples result is no revenue for the squad despite the cost of the crew, vehicle, overhead, medical equipment, etc.
