בשיר השירים, שלמה המלך לימד אותנו שהנישואין הם משל לקשר בין הקב"ה לבין עמ"י. שלמה המלך גם לימד אותנו שכל מה שאנחנו עושים בחיים, עם הבנה וכוונה מתאימה, יכול לקרב אותנו אל הקב"ה ולעזור לנו לדעת אותו ולדבוק בו – "בכל דרכיך דעהו" (משלי). אותו שלמה המלך בנה את בית המקדש, מקום המפגש בין שמים וארץ, בין הקב"ה לבין האדם.

In the Song of Songs, King Solomon teaches us that marriage is a parable of the connection between the Master of the Universe and His People Israel. In Ecclesiates (Mishlei) he teaches us “Know Him in all of your ways”: Everything we do in life can bring us closer to Him, with the appropriate understanding and intention. King Solomon actually built the Holy Temple, the physical place of the meeting of Heaven and Earth, of HaShem and man.
Only in marriage have we the opportunity to be partners with Him in creation, education, and love in such great capacity. Only in marriage have we the possibility of going in His ways to such an extent in listening, caring, tending to the needs of another, supporting, understanding, having a deep and honest friendship, and constantly striving for closeness and unity.
May this music create an atmosphere which invites the Shekhina (HaShem’s presence) to dwell with you.
