Help me continue Rudi's work

The last 50 years of Rudi's life were dedicated to preserve Borgo di Capannole, a 13th century building.

Through the lens of local history, respect for artisan traditions and an approach to architecture as a social catalyst, he created a lifetime project that has welcomed and inspired many people.

Rudi passed away on 17.09.2023, few hours before his 90th birthday.

He left us with drawings, local history studies, archaeological finds and documentation of rural culture besides his personal library, which holds books from the Bauhaus school to Italian Renaissance gardens.

Beside my studies and work as a musician, I was gifted with the knowledge to finish the restoration and preserve his work.

In recent years we have talked and agreed on how to develop the Borgo's contents and activities to make it a place of dissemination, exchange and cultural development in all respects.

The video above was shot on the occasion of the first symposium with friends and collaborators in 2019.

We will reopen the Borgo to the public from next summer, in 2024.

Although the structure has been well preserved in recent years, there is a lot of work to be done: in addition to long and medium term projects (an educational space for children, a recording and music production studio, the expansion of the vegetable garden according to the principles of permaculture, optimization of water and energy system, to name the main ones), there is an urgent need to:

In true Rudi one man band style, I am organizing to get the carpentry shop back on its feet and fully functional to be able to build 3 doors and around 8-10 windows during this winter.

Right outside of the carpentry I will build a little shed to organize building materials and free up precious working space.

We have a lot of solid wood available, but we need to reorganize the warehouse, buy material from the hardware store and the window panes. The electric system got old and it has to be updated with new plugs and lighting

To speed up the production is needed to purchase some machines:

Almost all existing machines and tools need maintenance.

Considering that there is also the 6000sqmt garden to take care of, with trees and bushes to trim and regular maintenance, I've got quite a job...but with some capable friends and your help, I will make it happen! For this summer we are going to have 3 apartments with 15 beds available.
