Haven Housing is in the process of dissolution.

Thank you for your many years of support!

Hoang Murphy, People Serving People CEO, and Debra Spears, Haven Housing Board Chair, commemorated the transition with staff and other leaders

As of May 2, 2024, Haven Housing does not operate any programs and is in the process of dissolving. We are incredibly proud of the 43 years we provided women, non-binary people, and the families they lead with a safe space and the opportunity to explore their futures. Three organizations are helping ensure the future of Haven Housing’s mission. People Serving People has assumed operations at St. Anne’s Place emergency family shelter. Steps of Strategy has moved into the former Ascension Place property and is running its homelessness prevention and mentorship program there. Start Today Hennepin is supporting all of the participants formerly in the Next Step Housing Program, and a licensed social worker is operating Haven Housing’s former apartment building. Haven Housing is no longer accepting new participants or donations.

A New Vision to Serve Homeless Families in Hennepin County

Changes at St. Anne’s Place emergency shelter

Since we opened our doors as Haven Housing in 1981, we’ve been forward-looking—anticipating solutions to community needs before crises hit. Today, the need for shelter and housing far outweighs the resources available. Seeing this critical need, we’ve decided to act now—to change the way we work and help more families move home. We are pleased to announce that Haven Housing plans to gift St. Anne’s Place emergency shelter to our longtime partner, People Serving People, on May 2, 2024. This is a unique response to a growing need, and we are confident it provides the best chance of making family homelessness rare, brief, and non-recurring. Learn More→
