Tin Wis resort is owned and operated by Tla-o-qui-aht First Nation. Tla-o-qui-aht Nation (TFN) – pronounced klaw-oh-kwee-awt, occupies Meares Island, Tofino, Long Beach and stretches as far as Sutton Pass. This beautiful region is home to incredible cultural influence and an indigenous community of skilled fisherman, master carvers, talented artists, and culturally refined and skilled singers and dancers.
We continue to work together with Tla-o-qui-aht First Nation and Tla-o-qui-aht Tribal Parks to maintain cultural integrity, build a strong community and continue economic development through collaboration and partnership.
We encourage all visitors to Tofino to take the ʔiisaak pledge by visiting the Tla-o-qui-aht Tribal Parks website here.
“Want to sit on your balcony and hear and view the Pacific ocean surf? Want to walk on the beach? Like fabulous views and sunsets? Then this is the place for you!”
“Culturally deep, expertly run space by local Tla-o-qui-aht Nation. Friendly, engaged, and knowledgeable staff. The attention to detail and the atmosphere rich with Indigenous culture, art and historical context are thoughtfully infused throughout the whole hotel. Staying here, if done respectfully by the guests is an act of Reconciliation. Absolute must experience!”
“4th consecutive stay at Tin Wis, great for dog owners. Our dog howled and went crazy on the beach when we arrived. Now with Brown’s Socialhouse there, there is no reason to have to go anywhere else. We’re looking forward to next year!!”
“Tin Wis is a wonderful property. Run by First Nations this is a special place to visit the Tofino/Ucluelet area of Vancouver Island. The staff are wonderful and we always feel that we are valued customers. Tin Wis is a destination that we return to when we visit this part of the Pacific Northwest.”
“BW Tin Wis is our favourite (and now only) place to stay in Tofino. Every room has an oceanfront view – just open your doors, and you can see and hear the waves of Makenzie beach. Friendly staff, meticulous housekeeping, great linens, fantastic breakfast. In the middle of everything, walk or bike to a little marketplace featuring Tacofino, a longer walk into tofino proper or the wilder waves of Chesterman. Family friendly.”
“We stay at this hotel at least once a year during “off season.” We have stayed in Best Westerns right across Canada and Tin Wis is by far the best value. Right on the beach, fire pits, dog friendly, nice restaurant, patios from which to watch the surfing action.”
“Wonderful welcoming hotel in a stellar location on the beach. Staff were very invested in providing superb service. Excellent gym and hot tub. Very well maintained. Convenient parking. Large rooms. Will definitely return.”
“Stunning location on beautiful Mackenzie Beach! Every room has a fantastic ocean view. This hotel is amazing, well maintained, the service is excellent, and a great daily buffet breakfast is included. We have stayed here a few times and we will come back again soon.”
